Elements of the Program
a) Yoga sAdhanA
Yoga is often synonymous with a physical (Asana) practice or sometimes includes a breath (prANAyAma) practice. However, this approach limits our ability to gain from the wisdom of the Yogic tradition which is far more comprehensive. The Krishnamacharya tradition recognises Yoga Sutra as a foundational text of Indian Philosophy and Inner Work (antaranga yoga) as the basis of Indian Psychology.
Yoga, hence is a process oriented, experiential and transformative practice. It regards each individual as unique and the path each one takes to discover deep healing and transcendence as unique.
b) Inner Work (antaranga sAdhanaA)
Ritambhara's flagship offering Inner Work Through Yoga, has over the years offered individuals from various professions, age groups, traditions, etc., a unique opportunity to undertake an inner journey to understand their true nature (svabhAvA). In simple terms, one begins to glean answers to a key question, "Who am I?" knowing oneself but also, ' to be' themselves.
c. antaranga sAdhanA in practice
The practices (abhyAsa) in service of the participants and their inner exploration are distilled from the teachings in the Krishnamacharya tradition and honed through constant praxis (theory <-> reflection <-> action).
As human beings, we truly come alive in our relationships. Meeting and engaging with a committed group of individuals each week creates a community (sanghA) of practitioners that supports the participants to embody the practice of Inner Work. Over the duration of the program, the participants are able to identify patterns in their interactions, generate valuable insights for themselves and experience greater sense of freedom (svantatrA) and consciousness in the choices they make. Thus, enlivening themselves and their respective contexts, simultaneously.
Who is this program for?
The course is open to anyone who is interested in:
- understanding the patterns of one’s mind and psyche (those that enliven us and those that deplete us)
- Learning to listen to the other which can help improve one’s relationships with others
- understanding how one is a part of the problem and can become a part of the solution in any context
We encourage participants to get into a regular practice of asana and pranayama, prior to joining the program. This program involves self-reflection, self-disclosure & sharing in groups. While the process & facilitation takes care of creating a safe environment to do so, there could be some amount of stress involved for the participant. If you are undergoing psychiatric treatment/counselling and are considering joining this program, please mention this in the registration form. One of the facilitators will call you to have a conversation to decide if this program would be appropriate for you.

Anoop Ratnaker Rao
Anoop is a student of yoga, an entrepreneur, a coach and a father of two young boys. On encountering the country's water/farmer crises at close quarters, he decided to pause and examine the impact various 'isms' - capitalism, colonialism, etc., were having on us as individuals, families, the society and the environment at large. The quest led him to formally engage with traditional Indic knowledge systems while also learning from the latest advances in science - about our physical and mental wellbeing, importance of body and mind work in healing trauma and the urgent need for a conscious rebuilding of family / work / social structures if we have to thrive individually and collectively. Insights, frameworks and processes gleaned from these on-going studies, an anchorage in his own personal practice and his wide-ranging experiences is what Anoop brings to facilitation/coaching spaces in Ritambhara and his various professional engagements.
